چکیده

A vector space is used to represent periodic voltage and current signals in a single port electrical network. This representation is convenient for expressing time average power quantities, such as average power, apparent power, and certain definitions of reactive power. The vector representation for reactive power provides insight into the difficulty of finding a consistent definition for a scalar measure of reactive power when harmonics are present. Instead, a reactive power vector is defined and shown to obey conservation according to Tellegen’s theorem. Projections of the reactive power vector are shown to obey conservation and can be used as signed, scalar measures of reactive power.

Multiscale system theory - Circuits and Systems I: Fundamental Theory and Applications, IEEE Transactions on

In many applications it is of interest to analyze and recognize phenomena occurring at different scales. The recently introduced wavelet transforms provide a time-and-scale decomposition of signals that offers the possibility of such an analysis. Until recently, however, there has been no corresponding statistical framework to support the development of optimal, multiscale statistical signal pr...

Compensation–Based Current Decomposition

This paper deals with the current space-vector decomposition in three-phase, three-wire systems on the basis of some case studies. We propose four components of the current spacevector in terms of DC and AC components of the instantaneous active and reactive powers. The term of supplementary useless current vector is also pointed out. The analysis shows that the current decomposition which resp...

Power SystemAnalysis for Nonsinusoidal Steady State Studies Based onWavelets

In this paper power system model is represented in a new domain that relates to Multi-Resolution Analysis (MRA) space. By developing mathematical model of elements in this space using Galerkin method, a new alternative method for power system simulation in nonsinusoidal and periodic conditions is developed. The mathematical formulation and characteristics of new proposed space is expressed. Als...

A Nonlinear Voltage Stability Index based on Vector Analysis Method and Measurements of Active and Reactive Powers of Power System

This paper proposes a new voltage stability assessment method based on vector analysis method. This index extraction process relies on measurements of active and reactive powers from connected buses to the generator buses. Therefore, a limit for beginning of voltage collapse is determined based on the maximum power transfer theory. On the other hand, when the system requires load shedding, a ne...

Coexistence of Four Different Attractors in a Fundamental Power System Model - Circuits and Systems I: Fundamental Theory and Applications, IEEE Transactions on

This paper reports the occurrence of a rare phenomenon in dynamical systems when four different attractors namely a stable equilibrium, a stable limit cycle and two strange attractors coexist in a fundamental power system model. The paper shows that power system operation could get trapped into sustained chaotic oscillations after a large disturbance even when there exists a viable stable equil...
